What has the last year looked like for 11:11am? Give us some of your highlights.
Adam DeAngelis: It was really busy for us. We had a collaboration with Glamour Kills and unveiled our new slogan, “Life is beautiful, save it”. And we embarked on Warped Tour 2011, partnering up with the Dear Jack Foundation again. The summer was extremely busy. Leah and I toured the whole thing, living with our amazing friends at To Write Love On Her Arms, Invisible Children, and Substream Music Press.
Your org seems to be growing more and more each year. What are you doing besides the Warped Tour gig that you find really gets your name out there?
AD: As much as we want 11:11 A.M. to get really big we try our best to keep it a small project. Everyone that works for 11:11 A.M. does it on a volunteer basis. So it’s hard at times to plan really large events because a lot of us have other jobs so time can be limited. Before Warped Tour, we started another cards project for our friend Kerry, who sadly passed away after her long battle. I learned about that news while on Warped Tour, and it was a hard day.
Who are the primary research centers you donate to?
AD: We’ve donated to: Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, American Cancer Society, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (for Light the Night), and the Dear Jack Foundation. If anyone has any others in mind, don’t hesitate to send us some ideas! We know there are thousands out there.
How can kids connect with you to get behind the cause?
AD: The best way is on Twitter and Tumblr. During Warped Tour, we ask for outgoing volunteers to help cover the grounds. If you are interested in doing a benefit show, our contact information is on the website (www.1111am.com)
What does 2012 hold for 11:11am?
AD: Some more collaborations with awesome companies. Possibly Warped Tour but that hasn’t been decided yet. If anyone has any ideas, please share with us how you’d like us to get involved. This project is everyone’s. That is how it started and that’s how it will always be!
